The Holly-Days

We had only about six Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween. I'm not sure if parents are being more cautious about taking their little ones out, or if our neighborhood is just running out of little ones to trick-or-treat. We have only one house on our block that has small children, and that mom brought her two little boys here to say good-bye to us before they move to Grants Pass, Oregon. Dave answered the door and gave out candy while I finished a project I have been working on.
Quite some time ago, Mom gave me a wooden sleigh that I believe she said was Gram’s. One of the runners on it was cracked, so I repaired that last year for Christmas. Mindy borrowed a big white stuffed bear from the Farrells to set in it, and we put it out on our front porch.
This year I decided to put a little more effort into it. I repainted it and filled it with little packages, a small stuffed bear, pine cones, and pine boughs. It's ready to go out on the porch for Christmas. This was my Halloween project.
The following night, I read Richard Paul Evans’ new book, Finding Noel--
our book club read for the month. The story really touched my heart. After my eyes dried, I realized that getting a Christmas decoration ready and reading a book in a Christmas setting, I was joyfully anticipating the upcoming Holidays. More than anything, the anticipation of spending time with family motivated me to call Lisa and make sure she was planning to have family for Thanksgiving dinner again. We look forward to our Bay family celebration each year. There is always such a sweet spirit in their home.
Lisa asked me if I was aware that David Pimentel was interviewing at the “Y” this coming week for a position in the Law School. I hadn’t heard, but I was overly excited with the possibility that we might have the Pimentel family living close to us. Later my sweetheart explained to me that David has interviews at approximately seventeen schools. Nevertheless, I am relentlessly praying for the “Y”. Good luck David! We are looking forward to seeing your family during the Holidays. I can’t believe how much the children have grown since we last saw them. The pictures from your safari blew me away.
Our Relief Society is having a Christmas home tour this year, and I volunteered my house to be in it. Last year, we went to Hawaii in December, Mindy got engaged (a wedding always takes precedence over other things) so our Christmas decorating included very little. This year, however, I plan to pull out all the stops and decorate to my hearts content for the home show. Now that I’m in the Christmas mood, I asked my Hubby if we could get the decorations down from the attic for family home evening this week. He agreed to it, and I’m just tingling with excitement and anticipation. Do we have to wait until Monday evening? Do I have a neurological/psychological problem here?

Thank you for all the good wishes! We're trying very hard not to count any chickens before they hatch.

Can we come see your house while we're in Utah at Christmastime?
