Losing weight

Dave and I are still losing weight on our weight-loss program. We have only a week and a half left on this course. He’s lost 20 pounds and I have lost 12. It seems so unfair that men can lose so much easier than women. However, I have to remember that 12 is better than none, and combined with the 21 pounds I lost over the summer, there are 33 pounds less of me. It feels really good!

I got a huge laugh out of Dave a week ago. He came home from church and took his suit pants off. He was just grinning from ear to ear. I asked him what he was grinning about, and he held up his pants. “I didn’t even unfasten them!” Needless to say, his weight loss required a new belt to hold his pants up, and if he loses any more, he’ll be sporting his suspenders. Someone at work finally noticed yesterday and asked him if he was losing weight? He nonchalantly answered, “Yes, I’ve lost a little bit.”

My broken foot seems to be healing. Yesterday I wore a shoe all day instead of the walking boot with no ill effects. It is actually easier to wear shoes since I can walk on an even level with both feet. My back and hips have taken a beating with the boot. I’ve been to the chiropractor’s office four times in the past few weeks. I go in for x-rays the day before we go off our weight-loss program. I just keep thinking—“Two weeks! And we’ll be back to normal!”

I just realized when I woke up with a bolt of lightening realization this morning that the Holidays are upon us! I have only 7 weeks until Christmas! I’m unprepared, but looking forward to the family celebrations, nonetheless. I started making my lists. If I have a list, then I just follow it and don’t get all tied up in a knot that something will not make a deadline. I have only a few things to work out on my list, and then I can relax and enjoy the journey through the holidays.

Dave has been working long hours for the past couple of weeks. They are trying to get a production line up before the company owner comes to town for a visit tomorrow. Long days translate into twelve hour work days and several middle-of-the-night phone calls and sometimes a trip back into the office late at night to fix a problem. Last night he got awakened at 11:30 because some labels weren’t getting printed right. He logged onto the computer at work remotely from our home computer and thankfully was able to fix the problem without having to go into Ogden.
